The 6 Things Your Makeup Artist Wishes You Knew Before Your Bridal Trial
BEAUTY TIPS
Your bridal trial is not just a test run. It is the most important beauty appointment of your entire wedding journey and most brides walk in completely unprepared.
After hundreds of bridal trials at Fictive Makeovers, here are the six things we genuinely wish every bride knew before she sat in our chair.
1. Your Skin On Trial Day Is Not Your Wedding Day Skin Yet
Start a proper skincare routine at least 3 months before your wedding. Invest in skin prep. start hydrating and exfoliating three months before your wedding. Healthy skin equals better makeup adherence. The difference in how makeup sits on prepped skin versus unprepared skin is night and day.
2. Bring Your Outfit Or At Least A Photo
Your makeup does not exist in isolation. It lives alongside your lehenga, your jewellery, your hair. We need to see the full picture to build the right look for you.
3. The Trial Is A Conversation, Not A Performance
Tell us what you hate as much as what you love. Too much contour? Say it. Not enough lash? Say it. This is your face! We are here to listen first and create second.
4. Do The Trial In Your Wedding Lighting
Test your look in daylight, indoor lighting, and under flash photography. A look that is perfect in the salon can disappear under a banquet hall chandelier. Always photograph yourself at the trial.
5. Do Not Try A New Skincare Product The Night Before
We have seen more trial-day breakouts caused by a last-minute new serum than we can count. Keep your skincare routine completely consistent in the week leading up to your trial.
6. Trust The Process
The trial rarely looks exactly like the wedding day look and that is completely normal. It is a starting point, not a final answer. Come with an open mind and leave with a direction.
